Admiral choir’s Christmas concert for hospice patients

Members of the Admiral Inspire Choir recently visited St David’s Hospice Care to spread a little Christmas cheer.

A group of staff from the Newport and Cardiff offices donned Christmas jumpers, festive hats and tinsel to sing a medley of Christmas songs for patients at the day hospice.

The choir, which rehearses once a week in the office and performs at company and external events, sang Winter Wonderland, Santa Clause is Coming to Town, Rocking Around the Christmas Tree and an encore of the Jackie Wilson classic, Higher and Higher.

Angela Canellas, Complementary Therapies and Activities Manager for St David’s Hospice Care said, “After the visit to the day hospice, everyone was ‘singing’ the praises of the wonderful Admiral Inspire Choir. We would all like to thank them so much for taking the time to come out and sing to the patients. Everyone enjoyed it immensely and if the choir want to come and sing for us again, we would truly love that!”

Choir member, Nicola Spring from the Claims department in Admiral’s Newport office said, “It was a lovely experience to perform at St David’s Hospice. The staff and patients were so welcoming and I for one would love to return for another performance.  It’s so inspiring to be a part of the choir and to perform in such an intimate setting for such a wonderful charity, was just the best.”

Admiral has supported St David’s Hospice Care through its sponsorship of the Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon since 2014. The company is also sponsoring the 2018 event on Sunday 4th March

The Admiral Choir was first set up in 2008 and now has around 60 members across the company’s offices in Cardiff, Newport and Swansea. The choir regularly takes part in performances which have included Pride Cymru, the opening of the Winter Wonderland in Cardiff, Admiral’s Staff General Meeting in the Motorpoint Arena and singing the Welsh National Anthem on the pitch at the Principality Stadium.
