Admiral to create over 250 new jobs
Leading Welsh employer Admiral Group is strengthening its position in Wales by creating more than 250 jobs in Swansea over the next 3 years. In order to accommodate the increased numbers it's moving from its current Alexandra House location to brand new purpose built offices on the SA1 Swansea Waterfront development.
Admiral Group, which currently employs 650 staff in Swansea, will become the largest employer in SA1, a major £200 million development that is transforming Swansea into a vibrant waterfront city of international renown. It will begin moving into the 40,000 sq ft Cyprium building in March 2006, while an additional 28,000 sq ft will be completed by September of that year.
Sian Lewis, Swansea General Manager, said, "The move to new offices will give our current staff a fantastic working environment, which will help us strengthen our position in the UK insurance market. We're very proud to be based in Wales, and it's great that we don't have to look outside for offices in such excellent surroundings.
"The local labour market has produced an abundance of talent in the past, and the new offices allow us to draw on it once more, and reinforce our position as a company dedicated to the Welsh economy."
The Welsh Assembly Government has provided financial assistance to assist Admiral Group in its move and expansion.
Andrew Davies, Minister for Economic Development and Transport described the announcement as excellent news for the City and for Wales,
"I am delighted that the Assembly Government has been able to support the Admiral Group in strengthening its position in Wales and creating over 250 jobs.
Admiral Group is the first major corporate occupier to move onto SA1, and today's announcement marks a key stage in the transition of SA1 into a vibrant, dynamic and living community. The decision to locate in SA1 will also act as a catalyst in attracting other businesses and service providers to the city, and is a defining point in the development of SA1.
Admiral Group is one of the great Welsh success stories of the past decade and this development is more evidence of how dynamic this company truly is!"
