Admiral employee gets a close shave for charity

Admiral employee Lucas James completely shaved off all his long hair and beard to raise over £1,350 for Huggard Homeless Shelter in Cardiff.

Lucas, who works in the IT department, raised £676.03 in sponsorship from colleagues and Admiral’s Community Chest scheme matched the amount, so in total the charity received £1,352.06. Lucas’ colleagues all took turns to shave Lucas’ hair and beard.

He also donated a ponytail of his hair to the Little Princess Trust, which will be turned into a wig to support someone who has lost their hair due to illness.

Lucas said, “A few months ago me and my teammate Alex were talking about me shaving my head, and I jokingly said I’d be happy to do it for charity. Ever since I mentioned this, he hasn’t let me forget and kept reminding me of it.

“So I decided I would actually go about doing it. I’ve always wanted to do something to help the homeless around Cardiff, as it’s a growing problem, and it’s one that all too often is easily neglected.”

Ceri Assiratti, Admiral’s People Services manager, said, “I’m so proud of our staff when I see money being raised in such a fun way for a great cause! Well done Lucas on being such a good sport.

“Our Community Chest scheme gives thousands of pounds to local organisations and charities in South Wales every year. We are very proud to support our local community.”
