Admiral kits out Brynhyfryd kids football team

A Swansea based under 6s football team has a brand new kit, thanks to local employer Admiral.

Plough Colts Under 6s, from Brynhyfryd, received nearly £300 for their kit after Michael Philips, who works in Admiral’s Claims department, applied to the company’s Community Chest Scheme. The scheme provides funding for charities, sports teams and organisations in which staff members or their families are involved.

The donation paid for kits for the whole team and some extra training equipment.

Michael is a referee in the Neath league and coaches the Under 6s in his own time. He said, “It’s very hard to get sponsorship and the club could not afford to pay for new clothing. The kids all love the new kits provided by Admiral, as they would previously have to wear plain bibs so they would be the only team not matching. Their new kits give them a new identity.

“I’ve worked for Admiral for 13 years and always knew we supported local clubs in the community. I’m really proud to work somewhere that gives back to the local area – the donation means so much to me and the kids.”

Matthew Crocker is the head coach and set up the Under 6s team so his youngest son would have somebody to play for. He said, “I’m really pleased with the kits – they look fantastic. Due to the kind donation from Admiral, the kids have a renewed sense of team spirit – thank you so much!”

Admiral’s Community Chest scheme has been running for over ten years and gives thousands of pounds annually to local charities and organisations in South Wales.
