Admiral team transform school grounds
A school in Newport has had an outdoor makeover thanks to staff from Admiral.
Two business support teams joined forces and spent the day at High Cross Primary School in Rogerstone undertaking various jobs to revamp the school grounds.
Armed with paint, spades, a wheelbarrow and a big white van, the team of 23 insurance workers wood stained fences and sheds, spruced up planters and reinforced and erected the school’s fences.
Headteacher Mr Carl Sherlock said, "We are so grateful to the team from Admiral for their hard work and dedication. The work they carried out has made a huge impact to our learning environment and we couldn't have done it without them. Thank you.”
Zoe Smith, Senior Data Analyst at Admiral said, “We really enjoyed our time volunteering at High Cross Primary. It was a very rewarding day, despite it being a lot more physically demanding than we were expecting! It was great to be able to make a difference whilst getting out of the office and doing something totally different to our day jobs.”
Many teams at Admiral undertake volunteering in the local community. This year Admiral staff have helped build accessible pathways at an educational centre for disadvantaged and vulnerable people, spent the day at a care home painting, gardening and running quizzes and activities with residents, spent an afternoon packing up clothing donations, undertaken gardening for the elderly, painted shelters to help the homeless, helped out at the dog shelter, picked up litter, built and sanitised toys for an orphanage, registered blood stem cell donors and spent time with the Salvation Army.
