Give a Day for Guide Dogs
An Admiral employee is helping support Guide Dogs Cymru by being a dedicated volunteer.
Sarah Morgan from Admiral’s IT department makes the most of the company’s Give a Day initiative to support Guide Dogs Cymru. Give a Day provides all Admiral employees two paid days of leave each year to help in their communities.
Sarah volunteers as a trainee Guide Dog fosterer and donations treasurer. Her responsibilities include caring for potential Guide Dog puppies and helping them socialise. Sarah also helps collect and bank vital fundraising donations for the charity and has used her Give a Day time to volunteer at a pop-up Guide Dogs Cymru charity shop.
Sarah said: “I’ve always had a passion for dogs and the amazing work of Guide Dogs Cymru. Working full time but being eager to help where I can, fostering is the perfect fit. It’s such a great feeling when one of my trainee dogs leave to benefit someone with a visual impairment. On top of fostering, I help with many fundraising activities and am lucky to have a supportive employer which makes volunteering at fundraising events much easier.”
Guide Dogs is the world's largest breeder and trainer of working dogs. And thanks to its dedicated staff, volunteers, and donations from supporters – 36,000 lives have been transformed through a guide dog partnership since 1931. When someone loses their sight, Guide Dogs Cymru is there to make sure they don’t lose their freedom as well and provides life-changing mobility services to adults, children and young people with sight loss throughout Wales.
