School choir looks as good as it sounds
A primary school choir from Newport have a smart new look for their performances after receiving matching t-shirts thanks to a donation by local employer, Admiral.
Somerton Primary School received funding from Admiral after Gareth Selfe, who works in the Communications department, applied to the company's Community Chest scheme. The scheme provides funding for charities and organisations in which staff members or their families are involved.
Gareth explains why he applied to the scheme, "My sister is the choir's musical assistant and I've helped out with the choir myself by playing guitar for their practices. They are a really talented group of singers and a lovely group of children, but the one thing they were missing was a uniform for the various shows they do in Newport."
Gareth's sister, Nikki Selfe says how the funding has helped, "The choir has 20 members age from 7 to 11 years old and they perform regularly in the local area. The children absolutely love their new t-shirts. Wearing them gives them an added sense of professionalism and now they look as good as they sound!"
The choir perform regularly in the local area, most recently singing at the Newport Citizens Awards at Newport Civic Centre.
