Responsible Investment policy

The purpose of the Responsible Investment policy is to mitigate Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) related risks and achieve more sustainable long-term returns. It governs how we and our subsidiary companies manage cash and invested assets and is monitored and reviewed by our Investment Committee.
•    We expect our external asset managers to incorporate ESG factors in their decision-making processes.
•    We monitor ESG risk within investments held by external managers.
•    We expect our asset managers to demonstrate a commitment to active ownership through engagement and voting.
•    We expect our external asset managers to be signatories to the UN Principles of Responsible Investment.

The investment strategy is also targeting Net Zero by 2040, following suitable guidance such as the Science Based Targets initiative and the Net Zero Investment Framework to achieve this. 
•    Admiral’s investment portfolios are managed to support the climate transition, delivering in our commitment to be Net Zero by 2040.
•    Admiral has approved science based targets and is making the Paris Aligned Net Zero Asset Owner commitment. 
•    In practice, our ambition is met by setting targets which encourage companies to decarbonise and set their own targets, setting targets to reduce our financed emissions and invest in climate solutions.
•    We engage with market participants, mainly our asset managers, on best practice for Net Zero targets, supporting transition investing, and climate solutions.
