On 2nd January 1993, Admiral launched with 57 colleagues and the first insurance policy was sold at 9:10 am.

Admiral’s website launched, making it the first direct insurer with an internet presence in the UK.
1997
June
Diamond and Bell launched. Diamond was created specifically for female drivers who traditionally had less expensive claims; and Bell was created to offer motor insurance to customers without a no claims bonus.

Gladiator launched as a commercial vehicle insurance intermediary

Henry Engelhardt led a management buy-out of the Admiral Group from the Brockbank Group, backed by Barclays Private Equity

Elephant launched and the Admiral Group became the first UK insurer to offer customers motor insurance through an online journey.

Admiral Group makes the inaugural The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For list

Confused.com, the UK's first insurance aggregator, was launched by the Group.
2004

Admiral Group floated on the London Stock Exchange with an initial share price of £2.75 and market capitalisation of £711 million, making it the highest valued public company in Wales.

Admiral becomes the first company in the UK to launch MultiCar, allowing UK customers to insure two or more cars on the same policy.

Admiral UK received a lifetime achievement award for being the only company to feature in the Best Big Company to Work For list for 20 consecutive years, since its inception.

In response to the global pandemic, the Group launched a Covid19 support fund and donated £6million over two years to support local communities.
